SEO EXPLAINED

What are SEO Keywords?

An SEO keyword, or simply a "keyword", is a word or phrase that illustrates the content of a webpage and is used by search engines to match your webpage with relevant end-user search queries.

When an end-user enters a search query into a search engine, the search engine uses an algorithm to analyze the query and match it with relevant web pages based on a variety of factors, including the keywords used on the webpage.

Optimising a webpage for a specific set of keywords is a key aspect of search engine optimisation (SEO) and can help improve your webpage's visibility and ranking in search results for those keywords.

An informed SEO strategy uses keyword research as a cornerstone of your targeted content and involves identifying relevant keywords that are frequently searched by your target market and have low competition from other your competitors online.

To optimise your webpage for a particular keyword, it is important to use the keyword in strategic places on the page, such as in the title, headings, meta tags, and body text, while also ensuring that the content is high-quality, informative, and relevant to your ideal client.

Overusing or "stuffing" keywords on a page can lead to penalties from search engines and should be avoided.

SEO TOOLS

Where Can I Find the Right Keywords?

There are several tools and techniques you can use to find SEO keywords. Here are a few options:

Google's Automatic Search Suggestions
Start by typing in a relevant search query related to your topic, and see what other related terms are suggested by Google. These suggestions can give you ideas for relevant keywords and phrases.

Google Search Console (Recommended)
This is a free tool from Google that can show you the keywords and phrases that is driving traffic to your website. This is seen by looking at which keywords you have the most impressions for. You can Toggle the table underneath the graph - just the same as you would an excel table. Simply click on the Column label Impressions until you see the highest number first. You can use this information to create targeted content at the keywords that Google is Categorising your website for already - or your can change the why Google classifies your content by targeting with more optimised content.

Keyword Research Tools (Free & Paid)
There are many keyword research tools available, some of these offer free trials and have paid memberships. Some popular options include: Google Keyword Planner, Keywords Everywhere, Answer The PublicMoz Keyword Explorer, Ahrefs Keyword Explorer, SEMrush Keyword Magic Tool, and Ubersuggest.

Take a Look at Your Online Competitors
Look at the websites of your competitors or other sites that rank well for your target keywords. Analyse their content and see what keywords and phrases they are using. This can give you ideas for new keywords or help you identify gaps in your own content.

Remember, finding the right keywords is only the first step in a successful SEO strategy. Once you have identified relevant keywords, you need to create high-quality content that provides value to your audience and is optimised for those keywords.
